Asking For Prayer

The Last Light

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
~ Psalm 23

One of my friends lost his 18 year old son yesterday afternoon.  I am sure that Justin had no concern about getting into that car - figuring this drive to town would be like any other.  And now he is gone, leaving behind his Daddy, Momma and sister to cherish his memory.

The family is devastated and I am heartbroken for them.  Please keep this family in your prayers.

Off To University

Pierce left early yesterday morning for University.  He has been looking forward to it for weeks.  I have not.  Don't get me wrong - I realize that he needs to spread his wings and fly.  But my house is so quiet!

There was a mix-up with the housing and we were informed 2 weeks ago that the school had not reserved a room for him.  We were told that he, along with 5 other boys, would be sleeping in the lounge area until suitable housing could be located.  Momma was not pleased with this development at all.  Several phone calls later, my boy had a room.  But no roommate.

So Pierce decided to not take much with him.  No refrigerator, no printer, no TV or microwave.  He said there was no reason to take anything until he and his roommate could discuss the situation.  His roommate arrived (from Korea!) bearing only his clothing and a coffeepot!

Thankfully, Pierce is only 3 hours away.  He is planning to come this weekend to get the necessities.  And he is bringing 3 new friends with him. A trip to the grocery store is in order.  I wonder how much food four 20 year olds can eat?
